When I started our blog, I made it a point to make it interesting and not to focus entirely on roses. Although we love our roses, and if given the chance, will write only about roses, but there is just too much fun stuff to blog about. There is a whole world of information about our industry that you will find educational, unique, and amazing. And amazing is exactly what I will share in this posting!
Blue coloured flowers (real blue ) are one of those hard-to-find novelties. Few flowers come in real blue, others may be called blue, but in reality the flower is most likely to be purple or fuchsia.
The holy grail of colour in flowers used to be black, but now we can happily say we have black roses, black tulips, black orchids, black ranunculus, and this summer's garden centers were advertising a very nice black petunia. Black is no longer an oddity. We cannot say the same thing about blue, growers are still in hard pursuit of the elusive shade, in part because the financial rewards are immense. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but there are market segments that demand something like this and are willing to pay the price. I say if given the choice, natural blue is always better than artificial blue.
These are some of the latest introductions presented at several floral shows this year. They are all real, natural blue!
